Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n

The plays that can be enjoyed at the 9th Alicante International Classical Theatre Festival in September are:<\/p>\n

Day 10: \u2018The Odyssey according to Penelope\u2019. A free adaptation by Francisco Sanguino of Homer’s text to be performed by the Aula de Teatro de la Universidad de Alicante.<\/p>\n

Day 12: \u2018The Two Noblemen of Verona\u2019. One of William Shakespeare’s first comedies that explores the relationship between friendship and love. Directed by Declan Donnellan.<\/p>\n

Day 13 \u2018Numancia\u2019. Play by Miguel de Cervantes. A major production directed by Jos\u00e9 Luis Alonso de Santos with 24 actors on stage and co-produced by the Community of Madrid.<\/p>\n

Day 14 \u2018Farra\u2019. Comedy with music, dance and acrobatics. By the company Lucas Escobedo. Max 2025 Award for Best Musical.<\/p>\n

17th. \u2018Iconos o la exploraci\u00f3n del destino\u2019 (Icons or the exploration of destiny). Rafael \u00c1lvarez \u2018El Brujo\u2019 performs a show that revolves around the oral tradition of the mythological tales on which the great Greek tragedies are built in a humorous way.<\/p>\n

Day 18. \u2018Guit\u00f3n Onofre\u2019. The lost rogue by Pepe Viyuela.<\/p>\n

Day 19. \u2018Cid\u2019. Antonio Campos‘ company stages the life of Rodrigo D\u00edaz de Vivar narrated by his brothers and with live music by La Musga\u00f1a.<\/p>\n

20th. \u2018La loca historia del Siglo de Oro\u2019 (The Mad History of the Golden Age). A comedy that portrays a Spain full of light and shadow, narrating the adventures of a society guided by the designs of God and the Kings. From the company la escalera de Tijera.<\/p>\n

Day 21 \u2018La reina brava\u2019. A satirical story by the company Las Ni\u00f1as de C\u00e1diz.<\/p>\n

All of them will be performed at the Teatro Principal. Tickets are already on sale at the box office and on the theatre’s website.<\/p>\n

Complementary activities<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to the theatrical performances, complementary activities will be held until 28 September at the Pozos de Garrig\u00f3s and the Municipal Arts Centre, where oral narrations of classical theatre will be performed, and at the Casa Bardin, where on 17 September the talk \u2018El p\u00edcaro perdido\u2019 will be given by Pepe Viyuela. In addition, the MACA will host on 23 September the meeting \u2018Brooklyn, Calder\u00f3n and other improbable combinations\u2019 with Daniel Alonso Pi\u00f1ero.<\/p>\n

Likewise, Raquel L\u00f3pez from Alicante is offering two performances for institutes of \u2018La Calavera ofendida\u2019 at the Centro Municipal de las Artes on the 22nd and 23rd of September at 11 am. Juan Gamba from Seville offers \u2018Los caballeros del pez\u2019 for adult audiences on Friday 26th at 20:00 at the Centro Municipal de las Artes and the following day \u2018M\u00e1s cuento que Calleja\u2019 for family audiences at 18:00 at the Pozos de Garrig\u00f3s.
