DESCRIPTION:The temporary exhibition will be a journey through his career over the last three decades and will be the largest presentation of his work in Spain to date. Walker’s work today is necessary and essential, and so evocative: strong, forceful, hard and, at the same time, of great beauty.\nKara Walker is one of the most outstanding artists of her generation and one of the most interesting on the international art scene, with a complex oeuvre that analyses, in sometimes chaotic scenes, questions of race, identity, power and desire, always used as systems of oppression and subjugation, across centuries and continents.\nThe exhibition is made possible by the extensive representation of Kara Walker’s work in the MACA’s Michael Jenkins and Javier Romero Collection and a series of pieces brought in from New York. It is curated by Rosa Mª Castells and produced by the MACA.\nFree admission\nThe MACA provides a service of dynamic visits for groups, both to the permanent collections and to the temporary exhibition, by prior reservation on the telephone 965213156 or by email educacion@maca-alicante.es ( mailto:educacion@maca-alicante.es ).\n\nBy prior reservation: Tuesday to Friday and any afternoon of the week (except Mondays, rest days and Fridays)\nWithout prior appointment: Sundays at 12.00h (except the second Sundays of each month)\n\nThese visits can be made for the following groups:\n\nSchool groups (nursery, primary, secondary, high school and vocational training)\nUniversity groups\nGroups with special needs\nAdult groups (minimum 8 people)\nFamilies (minimum 8 people)\n\nOpening hours September- June:\n\nMondays: closed\nTuesdays to Saturdays: from 10:00 to 20:00h\nSundays and public holidays: from 10:00 to 14:00h\nThe Museum will be closed on 24th June for the Bonfires of San Juan.\n\nOpening times July – August:\n\nMondays: closed\nTuesdays to Saturdays: 11:00h to 20:00h\nSundays and public holidays: 10:00h to 14:00h\nThis timetable may be extended throughout the year.\n\n
