The Explanada de España
The Explanada de España is one of Alicante’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit spot for anyone looking to discover the city.
This iconic promenade that runs parallel to the port is lined with slender rows of palm trees that invite you to walk under their shade. Its famous pavement is composed of 6,600,000 tricolor marble tiles and forms a spectacular undulating mosaic that imitates the waves of the sea, offering a unique visual experience.
One of the highlights of the Explanada is La Concha, an open-air auditorium that hosts concerts and cultural events throughout the year, making the promenade a vibrant and lively space.
The Explanada de España is more than a promenade; it is an immersion in the essence of Alicante, where history, culture, and an unmistakable Mediterranean atmosphere blend together.
At one end of the promenade, towards plaza Puerta del Mar, stands the elegant Casa Carbonell, a unique building with an imposing facade that adds even more charm to this emblematic place.
Along the Explanada, you can see several sculptures, such as the one dedicated to the Alicante painter Emilio Varela, or the sculptural group donated by the Casa de Francia, which represents the people of Alicante and their warm welcome to newcomers to the city.
