Walker&rsquo;s work today is necessary and essential, and so evocative: strong, forceful, hard and, at the same time, of great beauty.<br \/>\nKara Walker is one of the most outstanding artists of her generation and one of the most interesting on the international art scene, with a complex oeuvre that analyses, in sometimes chaotic scenes, questions of race, identity, power and desire, always used as systems of oppression and subjugation, across centuries and continents.<br \/>\nThe exhibition is made possible by the extensive representation of Kara Walker&rsquo;s work in the MACA&rsquo;s Michael Jenkins and Javier Romero Collection and a series of pieces brought in from New York. It is curated by Rosa M\u00aa Castells and produced by the MACA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free admission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MACA provides a service of dynamic visits for groups, both to the permanent collections and to the temporary exhibition, by prior reservation on the telephone 965213156 or by email <a href=\"mailto:educacion@maca-alicante.es\">educacion@maca-alicante.es<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By prior reservation: Tuesday to Friday and any afternoon of the week (except Mondays, rest days and Fridays)<\/li>\n<li>Without prior appointment: Sundays at 12.00h (except the second Sundays of each month)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These visits can be made for the following <strong>groups<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School groups (nursery, primary, secondary, high school and vocational training)<\/li>\n<li>University groups<\/li>\n<li>Groups with special needs<\/li>\n<li>Adult groups (minimum 8 people)<\/li>\n<li>Families (minimum 8 people)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Opening hours September- June:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mondays: closed<\/li>\n<li>Tuesdays to Saturdays: from 10:00 to 20:00h<\/li>\n<li>Sundays and public holidays: from 10:00 to 14:00h<\/li>\n<li>The Museum will be closed on 24th June for the Bonfires of San Juan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Opening times July &#8211; August:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mondays: closed<\/li>\n<li>Tuesdays to Saturdays: 11:00h to 20:00h<\/li>\n<li>Sundays and public holidays: 10:00h to 14:00h<\/li>\n<li>This timetable may be extended throughout the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The temporary exhibition will be a journey through his career over the last three decades and will be the largest presentation of his work in Spain to date.
