The Pilgrim&rsquo;s Pilgrimage returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Pilgrimage of the Santa Faz<\/strong> is one of the most popular pilgrimages in Spain and attracts thousands of people every year. It is held on the second Thursday after Maundy Thursday and brings together pilgrims from all over who walk the 8 kilometres that separate the historic centre of Alicante from the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.alicanteturismo.com\/fr\/monumentos\/monastere-de-santa-faz\/\">Monastery of Santa Faz<\/a>, where the canvas with the image of Christ&rsquo;s face is kept. The day is lived in a lively and festive atmosphere, in honour of this deep-rooted Alicante tradition known as <strong>\u00abla Peregrina\u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>ITINERARY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>1ST MAY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>From 07:00 hours, distribution of rosemary canes in the Co-cathedral of San Nicol\u00e1s and the Town Hall.<\/li>\n<li>07:45 a.m.: Co-cathedral of San Nicol\u00e1s.<\/li>\n<li>08:00 a.m.: La Peregrina (The Pilgrim&rsquo;s Pilgrimage). Co-cathedral of San Nicol\u00e1s.<\/li>\n<li>From 8:00 to 10:00 hours: route from the Co-cathedral of San Nicol\u00e1s to the Santa Faz Monastery: Miguel Soler, San Nicol\u00e1s, Mayor, Plaza Sant\u00edsima Faz, Mayor, Villavieja, Virgen del Socorro, Avda. D\u00e9nia and Alicante-Valencia-Caser\u00edo Santa Faz road.<\/li>\n<li>From 7:00 to 11:30 a.m., \u2018Paraeta Municipal\u2019, installed on the pavement in front of the exit of the Vistahermosa Complex next to La Cig\u00fce\u00f1a street.<\/li>\n<li>From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: opening of the Camar\u00edn for the extraction of the image of the Santa Faz.\n<ul>\n<li>Official Mass. Plaza Luis Foglietti (duration approximately 1 hour).<\/li>\n<li>Subsequent closure of the Camar\u00edn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The duration of the itinerary will depend on the progress of the official procession.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the town of Santa Faz, next to the municipality of San Juan, the Santa Faz fair takes place, with crafts and stalls selling traditional products (pottery, ceramics, medals and clubs).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bus shuttle between Plaza Puerta del Mar and Santa Faz Monastery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every five minutes between Puerta del Mar and the Caser\u00edo (located in Carretera de Valencia) from 8 am to 9.30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The shuttle service will be maintained on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May, every 20 minutes, together with other public transport services such as the taxi rank set up next to the Postiguet beach at the pedestrian walkway and the reinforcement of bus lines 2, 8, 13 and 22 of the city bus and the TRAM services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>SOME TIPS FOR THE PILGRIMAGE OF SANTA FAZ<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear comfortable clothes made of natural fibres to avoid chafing.<\/li>\n<li>It is better to wear comfortable shoes that you have already worn to avoid injuries.<\/li>\n<li>Rest whenever you need to.<\/li>\n<li>It is advisable to protect yourself from the sun with a cap and sunglasses to avoid sunstroke.<\/li>\n<li>Drink water and\/or juices before you feel thirsty to avoid dehydration.<\/li>\n<li>Remember that drinking alcohol can accelerate possible dehydration.<br \/>\nEnjoy and have fun!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other tips to keep in mind: <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.alicanteturismo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/5.-Folleto-AGLOMERACIONES.pdf\">Flyer-AGLOMERATIONS.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>More information at <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.alicanteturismo.com\/fr\/fiestas\/le-pelerinage-de-santa-faz\/\">https:\/\/dev.alicanteturismo.com\/en\/fiestas\/the-santa-faz-pilgrimage\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pilgrimage of the Santa Faz is one of the most popular pilgrimages in Spain and attracts thousands of people every year.
